What is polymeric sand and why is it important for Ottawa paver patios?

Polymeric sand is a specially engineered joint fill material that contains fine sand blended with polymer binders. When activated with water, those binders cure to create a firm yet slightly flexible joint that locks pavers together far more effectively than regular sand. Regular sand washes out. That's the fundamental issue.
