Custom deck construction built to handle Ottawa's demanding four-season climate, where structures must endure temperature swings from -30C to +35C, heavy snow loads, and relentless freeze-thaw cycling. Every deck we build starts with footings excavated below Ottawa's deep frost line of 1.2 to 1.5 metres, anchored in undisturbed soil below the clay layer common throughout the Ottawa River valley. This prevents the frost heaving that causes decks to shift, crack, and pull away from the house.

We build with pressure-treated lumber, cedar, and composite decking materials, each with specific advantages for Ottawa's conditions. Composite and PVC decking eliminates the annual staining cycle and resists the moisture damage that shortened building seasons make difficult to address.

City of Ottawa building permits are required for most deck projects, and we handle the permit application process including site plans and structural drawings that meet Ontario Building Code requirements for snow load, guard height, and stair dimensions. For properties in heritage conservation districts such as the Glebe, Sandy Hill, or Centretown, we work within design guidelines to ensure approval.

Our deck builds include proper ledger board attachment with flashing to prevent water infiltration, joist tape for extended framing life, and hidden fastener systems on composite installations. With Ottawa's short outdoor building season running May through October, early booking ensures your deck is ready for summer enjoyment.
